A Walk in the Park
Saturday, February 14 — Valentine’s Day! It was raining, but dedicated Paige stuck to her workout plan. No treadmill today, it’s time to hit the pavement!

Paige starting out in the rain
Bundled up and ready for whatever the weather had to dish out!

cookin' with steam!
Lo, and behold…the rain stopped. That would make this workout easier…

Paige on a mission
We figured the pace was about 2.4mph…a good average on the treadmill…harder to maintain on the road.

over half way

coming up on the home stretch
Had to walk past the baseball fields and handle the “startling” noise of balls hitting metal bats, but Paige persevered…

done!
1.2 miles, in the bag!

relaxing
That was no “walk in the park”! Good workout, Paige!!

AT&T ProAm
We attended the AT&T ProAm in beautiful Pebble Beach on Friday the 13th. It ended up being a lucky day for us! The forecast had predicted rain, rain, rain! We ended up with a sunny, crisp day.

We were in the middle of the fairway (on the cartpath of course) on one hole, and happened to be right in the place where the drives from the green hit. Bill Murray’s ball was about halfway across the fairway. He started walking right toward us, and it was apparent that he WAS walking toward us deliberately! He approached Claire, and pointing his finger at her asked “Where are you from?” She answered “Scotts Valley…Santa Cruz”. He said “Oh, you look like someone I know” and then had to move on to hit his ball. We were all excited…we’ve never had one of the celebrities come up and talk to us…then again, we’ve never brought the girls along before either!
Had a lot of close encounters with Justin Timberlake too! He hit his ball into the trees right where Paige and I were standing. Hit another tree when he tried to hit out onto the fairway. Then he picked his ball up and walked up the fairway. Paige and I didn’t realize it, but he was walking right next to us! We passed him again (all four of us) on a bridge that they had roped off to let the players through…but we happened to still be in the middle of the bridge when they roped it off, so it was just us (Abby, Tom, Paige and Claire) and Justin and his group on the bridge! He walked about a foot away from us going the other way.

Paige was really nervous about the “whack” of the balls, but she was SO good. She never made a sound that would distract the players – just blinked and grabbed on to one of us when they were about to hit the ball. Did a lot of walking, and got a lot of encouragement from people around her (ie: “good job – that was a steep hill” – “you’re almost there”, etc)

We got to park in the handicapped area, which was down by SpyGlass on 17 Mile Drive. They had vans that took you anywhere you wanted to go. It was easily the most scenic parking lot we’ve ever parked in!
